Streaming Media: An Introduction |
Streaming- sometimes known as Webcasting- is the term used when specially encoded digital multimedia content such as video, animation, graphics, audio, photo images and text are transmitted via the Internet to an audience. Streaming multimedia files play immediately upon opening and are automatically deleted after playback so that no permanent storage is required from the viewer’s computer.
How On-Demand Webcasting is done
1. All video footage, whether it be from video cassettes, electronic files or satellite transmissions, is delivered to a broadcast operations hub and converted into streaming media files through a process known as encoding.
2. Our Video streaming media servers receive the encoded video files through a file transfer.
3. The encoded files are then linked from our servers to the client’s website.
4. When the client’s visitor clicks on the link, the streaming video begins playing directly on their computer seamlessly, without any branded access to the content.
