RT! First Ever Winner Of Best Music Video

Groundbreaking director RT! returns from Manhattan as the First ever winner of for Best Music Video at the 2004 MTV2/Urbanworld Film Festival.

Toronto, ON August 10, 2004 Award winning director RT!s video for Bishop's uplifting About 2 Change, was selected as the best music video in show at the 8th annual MTV2/Urban World Film Festival this past weekend in Manhattan, New York.

The video for About 2 Change is about the ups and downs of an underprivileged housing area in Scarborough over the course of a summer. Its smooth, colorful visuals and positive message was incredibly well received by festival audiences over the course of the 5 day long festival. We don't get to see too many videos out here that show us another side of life, RT!s videos were refreshing, says Malcolm Goodwin, a fellow film maker and festival participant from New York.

RT! was also the only director at the festival to have two videos screening. Along side About 2 Change was the double MMVA nominated The Throwback which also received multiple screenings at the festival. The film community down there is so embracing man. I couldnt believe that, one - the theaters we were shown in were packed out, and two - that people actually cheered after seeing the videos! All in all just a great experience said RT! about the festival exposure.

This year the UWFFs feature premieres included Michael Manns COLLATERAL (featuring Tom Cruise and Jamie Foxx) and Zhang Yimous Asian action phenomenon HERO. More info on the prestigious UWFF can be found at http://www.uwff.com.

Both About 2 Change and The Throwback were released earlier in 2004 across Canada on MuchMusic and MTV Canada. The MTV2 / UWFF award is another accomplishment for RT! and The NE crew, producing some of the most preeminent videos and film projects in Canada right now.

Look out for new videos from the NE camp all over MUCH Music, MUCH Vibe, MTVCanada, MTV2 and every other music video outlet you can catch up with. Watch for upcoming music videos from The N.E. featuring: Melanie Durrant, Kardinal Offishall, Reign, Ray Robinson, Arabesque, and Juice all hitting your Television later in 2004.
